A fine Georgian house in the heart of the glorious Cuckmere Valley.Ideal for your visit to Glyndebourne Opera House or walking the South Downs and Wealdway. Carved into the chalk of the South Downs, the Famous Neolithic Long Man of Wilmington' gazes down at the petty white front and blue shutters of Crossways. The house is set back from the road in two acres of neat informal gardens, complete with asmall pond of resident ducks - with a bit of luck they will greet you on arrival. Even if the ducks fail to oblige the resident proprietors always provide a friendly welcome to this small country house. Ideally situated for the nearby towns of Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne and for visiting the many National Trust properties and Splendid gardens of Sussex. The elegant dining room serves food to a high standardthere is plenty to choose from on the fixed-price four course menu, the inventive use of fresh local produce, supplied by a variety of local produces especially the local reared beef and Southdown lamb from nearby Stonecross. The menu changes every month to reflect the best local seasonal produce. DINNER RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE IN ADVANCE OF YOUR STAY.
